Prof Hanno Reuter
Professor : Thermo-Fluid Division
Dr Hanno Reuter is currently appointed as a Senior Lecturer in the Thermo-Fluid Division. He is doing research on the performance evaluation and enhancement of industrial cooling systems with the focus on thermal power plants and mechanical and natural draft wet cooling towers. His fields of interest includes CFD, energy systems and industrial cooling systems.

Professional Experience
2003 to 2016: | Stellenbosch University Snr Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Thermo-Fluid Division) Lecturer of the following Thermo-Fluids subjects: Energy Systems, Fluid Mechanics, Thermofluid dynamics, and Fundamentals of Food Engineering. Thesis supervisor of undergraduate (final year projects) and postgraduate (MEng, MScEng and PhD) student projects. Industry consultant doing mainly design audits, tests and technology development for the owners and suppliers of industrial cooling systems. Researcher doing fundamental research on the performance evaluation and enhancement of natural draught cooling systems. Completed a PhD with the following title: Performance evaluation of natural draught cooling towers with anisotropic fills (https://scholar.sun.ac.za/handle/10019.1/780) Conference chair and organiser of the 14th IAHR Cooling tower and air-cooled heat exchanger conference held in Stellenbosch December 2009. |
