Congratulations to the Recommended Engineering Education Practices (REEP) Research Group!
We are delighted to share that REEP has been honoured with the Team Award in the National University Teaching Awards (NUTA), a significant national recognition of excellence in higher education teaching. The NUTA initiative recognises innovative teaching and learning at universities across South Africa, seeks to promote academic leadership in teaching, and celebrates transformative teaching approaches in context.
Celebrating a Transformative Journey
Over the years, the team within the Department of Mechanical & Mechatronic Engineering has played a substantial role in reshaping how teaching, learning and assessment are approached within the faculty. From refreshing curricula, embedding active learning, to revamping assessment design, this work has strengthened student engagement, improved learning outcomes and advanced inclusive pedagogy.Debby Blaine, Melody Neaves, Taneha Hans, Anton Basson, Karel Kruger, Craig McGregor, Martin Venter, Kristiaan Schreve, Jaap Hoffmann, Vinay Schekar, Willie Smit, Adam Venter and Clint Steed were part of the team over the past years whose efforts show how a coherent, sustained, education‑innovation approach can yield impact.
Acknowledging Leadership and Support
A special note of gratitude must go to Karin Wolff whose leadership, encouragement and unwavering support have been instrumental in this achievement.
